Johanna (Jo) Iraheta joins the Manzanita team as a naturalist and expeditionary instructor. She is a multidisciplinary and multicultural educator who is passionate about developing innovative, somatic and creative experiences that cultivate intergenerational empowerment, healing, and community resilience. Johanna is an ingenious artivist who aims to unveil and uphold marginalized communities' intellect, identity, and ancestral knowledge through art, movement, theater, and storytelling. The healing arts and equity movements rooted in flora and fauna connections, binds her to experiential and non-conventional pedagogical practice throughout the Los Angeles cityscape, incorporating tools such as bike journeys, street pop-up activations, plant and medicine relations, wilderness connections and community skill sharing. Johanna holds an MA in Teaching from the University of Southern California and a BA from California State Northridge. Johanna is also a certified Wilderness & Outdoors Educator from the Diverse Outdoors Leadership Institute, a Sierra Club Wilderness Instructor, and a certified League of American Cyclist instructor We are thrilled to welcome Jo to Manzanita.
